Characteristic resources

  • Catalogues & Reports
  • Expo Periodicals
  • Expo Gallery
  • WE Publications

Catalogues and reports are the scripts of Expos.

Exhibit catalogues of early Expos have systematically and elaborately showed the exhibition system and layout of collections provided by various countries. The Jury Report records the awarding system of each Expo and brief comments on exhibits addressed by authorities from different industries. The Final Report published by organizers after each Expo summarizes the general information, preparation, and operating process of the Expo and highlights its significance and featured projects. The Report from Commissioner Generals released by each country often delineates how the country prepares for participating in the Expo and comments on Expos and exhibits of other countries. This report intuitively records cultural exchanges at each Expo.

Periodicals serve as a public record of our history. Expo periodicals reproduce and retell the glory of the events.

The WE Library has a collection of periodicals that span from Expo 1851 London to Expo 2010 Shanghai, including official journals published by Expo organizers, and folk periodicals released by social media. The structure, content, expression, design, printing, and publication of the periodicals contain abundant information which can benefit studies in various disciplines, such as journalism, printing and publishing, international relations, exposition and tourism, history, art design, library, intelligence, and archives.

Images and video are the most intuitive ways to record and preserve history.。

They show Expo sites, pavilions, exhibitions, activities, ceremonies, forums, and participants in a vivid manner.

As the official museum and documentation center of BIE, the WEM has been collecting video clips and photos of Expos since its establishment. The WEM started to participate in Expos since 2012. Taking this opportunity, the WEM actively has collected various video clips and pictures of Expos to effectively keep valuable visual resources that record the history of Expo.
