The BIE Library

The BIE Library is a source of high-quality information and archives on Expos, composed of some 5,000 works dating from 1851 until the present day. The collection includes books, official reports, exhibition catalogues, and illustrations depicting memorable moments at Expos. Since March 2013, the Library has been digitizing the documents through scanning and optical character recognition (OCR).

The precious collections in the BIE Library not only preserve the history of Expos but also record the valuable experience of Expos for future generations.

The BIE Library collections include:

1. Official reports, publications, and materials on Expos dating back to 1851

2. BIE conventions and regulations

3. Albums, illustrations and photographs of past Expos

4. Professional and academic publications relating to Expos

Among the treasures of the World Expo Museum (WEM), the only official museum and documentation centre entirely dedicated to Expos and authorised by the BIE, are some of the extensive Expo collections from the BIE Library. These notably include 1,815 copies of digital, historical documentation, BIE Bulletins (since 1996), and publications sponsored by the BIE including official catalogues of Expos, final reports, and relevant books, all housed in the WE Library.
