The following organizations or databases can be used to query and use the resources of many World Expos:

Europeana

Europeana is a web portal created by the European Union containing digitised museum collections of more than 3,000 institutions across Europe. More than 3,000 institutions across Europe have contributed to Europeana, including the Rijksmuseum, the British Library and the Louvre.Records of over 10 million cultural and scientific artefacts have been brought together on Europeana's platform, and are presented in a variety of ways relevant to modern users, such as smartphones or APIs.Europeana

Europeana contains more than 10,000 pieces of multiple resource data such as pictures, text, videos, and audio of different Expos, thousands of which are open to the public. The content is available in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish and other languages.

HathiTrust Digital Library

Founded in 2008, HathiTrust is a not-for-profit collaborative of academic and research libraries preserving 17+ million digitized items. HathiTrust offers reading access to the fullest extent allowable by U.S. copyright law, computational access to the entire corpus for scholarly research, and other emerging services based on the combined collection. HathiTrust members steward the collection — the largest set of digitized books managed by academic and research libraries — under the aims of scholarly, not corporate, interests.

HathiTrust contains thousands of pieces of relevant publication data from multiple Expos. The library provides open access for reading and downloading, and it provides retrieval of text content, covering English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and other languages.

Japan Search

Japan Search links digital archives in the publications, cultural properties, and media arts fields and organizes metadata of varying of contents preserved by 60 Japanese institutions and organizations into a searchable “national, integrated and cross-sectoral portal website”. Aside from providing searchable aggregated metadata, Japan Search provides metadata in a user-friendly format and also plays a vital role as a foundation for promoting content utilization. There are 22,157,215 searchable items, 3,376,441 of which are accessible online.

About 10,000 items regarding Japan hosting and participating Expos including publications, official documents, maps, broadcast clips, and digitized relics can be searched. Part of them are available for non-commercial use.


Digital Public Library of America

The DPLA is a discovery tool, or union catalog, for public domain and openly licensed content held by the United States' archives, libraries, museums, and other cultural heritage institutions.The DPLA links service hubs, including twelve major state and regional digital libraries or library collaborations, as well as sixteen content hubs that maintain a one-to-one relationship with DPLA.

The library contains nearly 50,000 pieces of images, texts, animated pictures, and other resources of multiple Expos, which can be browsed for free. The content is in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and other languages.

Getty Research Institute Library

The Getty Research Institute library collections include over one million books, periodicals, study photographs, and auction catalogs as well as extensive special collections of rare and unique materials. Focusing on art history, architecture, and related fields, they begin with the archaeology of prehistory and extend to the contemporary moment

The library contains more than ten thousand digital resources in artworks, souvenirs, landscapes, and other related materials about multiple Expos. The resources include pictures, books, periodicals, archives, digital collections, etc., in more than 20 languages such as French, German, English, Chinese, and Dutch. Please contact the research institute for special collections. The other collections are available online for users to browse, download and print.

NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY OF CHINA

The National Library of China (NLC) serves as the repository of the nation's publications, a national bibliographic center, a national center for preservation and conservation of ancient books, as well as the national museum of ancient books. The major responsibility of the NLC includes: the collection and preservation of domestic and foreign publications; national coordination of document preservation and conservation work; provision of information and reference services to the central government, national authorities, social organizations, and the general public; research in the theory of library sciences and development of librarianship, and guidance to other libraries in China; the fulfillment of its function in international cultural exchanges through participation in the activities of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and other related international organizations, as well as the promotion of exchanges and cooperation with other libraries in China and abroad.

The "User Cloud" has integrated a variety of sources such as ancient books, Minguo (may refer to the Republic of China) bibliography, local library resources, and doctoral dissertations. You can search through "Characteristic Resources" to find over a hundred kinds of resources about the international expositions (or competitions) that had held in China, and the events that China had participated in during or before the period of the Republic of China. The registered members can access the entire content for free.

Henry Madden Library

The Henry Madden Library is the name of an academic library in Fresno, California. It serves as the main resource for recorded knowledge and information supporting the teaching, research, and service functions of the California State University, Fresno.

The library contains 1.13 million volumes,in 370,000 sq feet, placing it among the largest libraries in the California State University system.

The library has cooperated with the university libraries in Italy and Germany, compiled the bibliography of the Expo from 1851-2005, and other international fairs as a reference index. The library provides access links to download in the World's Fair Collection donated by Donald G. Larson. This special issue includes over 16,000 pieces of multiple Expo-related documents: around 1,600 official guides, more than 6,500 brochures, postcards, photos, sheet music, and other materials. It is the most detailed Expo research collection on the West Coast of the United States. The content is in English, French, and other languages. The collection is available for online browsing, and the digital objects only account for a small part of the library collection. Brown University Library

The Library of Congress (LC) is the research library that officially serves the United States Congress and is the de facto national library of the United States.

The collections of the Library of Congress include more than 32 million catalogued books and other print materials in 470 languages; more than 61 million manuscripts; the largest rare book collection in North America, including the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence, a Gutenberg Bible (originating from the Saint Blaise Abbey, Black Forest) (one of only three perfect vellum copies known to exist); over 1 million U.S. government publications; 1 million issues of world newspapers spanning the past three centuries; 33,000 bound newspaper volumes; 500,000 microfilm reels; U.S. and foreign comic books—over 12,000 titles in all, totaling more than 140,000 issues; films; 5.3 million maps; 6 million works of sheet music; 3 million sound recordings; more than 14.7 million prints and photographic images including fine and popular art pieces and architectural drawings; the Betts Stradivarius; and the Cassavetti Stradivarius.

The library collects over 10,000 e-books, newspapers, photos, multimedia materials, and other resources related to multiple Expos. The resources are available in English, Japanese, German, French, and other languages.

The University of Washington Libraries

The database of the University of Washington Libraries includes thousands of relevant documents of the Expo. The content is in English, French, German, Spanish and other languages.

The explanation about the amount of the Expo relevant resources: We use the general search method of the Expo and the names of the host cities to search in the institutions’ online catalogues and summarize the results to our current statistical data.

University of Virginia Library

The University of Virginia was conceived with a library at its heart, placed in the Rotunda at the head of the Academical Village. The Library’s first collection was selected by Thomas Jefferson and arranged according to a classification scheme he adapted from Francis Bacon’s The Advancement of Learning. Today, the Library’s original purpose remains unchanged: to provide access to accumulated knowledge, and in so doing, increase it—in short, to advance learning. In pursuit of that goal, we collect, preserve, organize, and share materials of all kinds.

In the library’s database, there are over 10,000 related resources from multiple Expos, including books, e-books, songs, periodicals, and others. The primary language is English, but it is also available in French, German, and other languages.

Archives,Institute of Modern History Academia Sinica

The archives contain important original historical records, and serve as a major repository for research on modern Chinese history. The archives were established within the Institute of Modern History so that the functions of archival storage and historical research could be carried out in one place, It was hoped that this arrangement would facilitate historical studies and encourage greater interest in modern Chinese history. The records in the archives are divided between diplomatic archives (1860s-1970s), economic archives (1903-1980s), personal papers, etc. The total length of all the files combined is approximately 10,000 meters.

The library has hundreds of text files related to the participation of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China in the Expo. After registering and logging in, the members can obtain the information for browsing, downloading, and printing relevant resources. All the members should be searching for resources in traditional Chinese.

CHINA ACADEMIC DIGITAL ASSOCIATIVE LIBRARY

In Dec.2000, Computer scientists from China and US jointly initiated the construction of Million Book Digital Library Project (MBP), which later on was developed into the Universal Digital Library (UDL).

In the first stage of CADAL project (2001-2006), a million books were digitalized for the goal to create a free-to-read, searchable collection of one million books over the internet. In the second stage of CADAL project (2007-2012), another 1.5 million books were digitalized,and the standards & specifications of the project were created. The service network was deployed across the state. The focus of the CADAL project was changed from data collecting to technology support and service supply. Since 2013, the CADAL project enter the maintenance period, and continue to promote work in resources, services, technology, and cooperation.

The digital library mainly contains nearly a hundred Expo related e-books and newspapers, including the official guides of the Expo. The registered user can borrow e-resources after logging in. All the digital sources are available in multiple languages such as Chinese, English, and French.

The library contains more than 10,000 related resources of multiple Expos, including pictures, videos, bibliographies, dissertations, popular science articles, exhibition introductions, digital collections, and other forms of media. Three forms of PDF, ePub, and Kindle are available for download. The primary language of the resources is English.

Statistics Method of the collection sum on this page: Search the OPAC of each upmentioned library with the official designation of the local Expo and the common names of the Expo in English and French, then add up the number of search results and obtain the statistical data.
