The WE Library will open for trial operation in October 2022. It connects the Documentation & Research Center with the public and is designated for serving as the preservation center for Expo intellectual heritage, the information resource base for Expo sector, the reference service platform for Expo research, and the citizens’ study room of Expo documents.

Major functions of the WE Library
1、 Documentation Acquisition and Organizing
By resource sharing by the BIE, Expos on-site acquiring, donation, and purchasing, the WE Library systematically collects and then classifies, catalogues, stores, and conserves Expo-related documentation and materials.

2. Documentation Reading and Use
The WE Library will provide document search and reading services for internal and external readers. In addition, it will also support Expo exhibitions, training, and social education projects by offering consultation services regarding specific topics. The mid- and long-term objects of the WE Library are to extensively cooperate and share Expo resources with the BIE and public libraries and research institutes established by host cities of Expos.

3. Documentation Publicity and Promotion
The WE Library will study its collections, and introduce quality Expo documentation and the charm of Expos to the public through assorted exhibitions, activities, and promotions.

4. Documentation Cooperation and Exchanges
The WE Library will actively discover opportunities to cooperate with public research institutes, libraries, archives of host cities of Expos, exchange collections, encourage readers to share their insights, and improve their understandings of Expo spirits and culture, so as to share the wisdom of Expos.

After years of preparation, the WE Library has become the Documentation & Research Center with a relatively large collection of Expo documentations. During its trial operation, the WE library will provide reservation-required services for readers, and gradually establish an Expo professional service and information platform that integrates resource publicity, information collection, and reference and consultation functions. In this way, the WE Library will be able to serve research institutes, experts, scholars, and university teachers and students across the globe, foster academic exchanges and cooperation, boost relevant studies and the application of research findings, facilitate Expo trainings , improve the WEM's capabilities as the official Documentation & Research Center of the BIE, and provide thoughtful services for the international Expo community.
