Readers are encouraged to recommend documentation that meets the theme of the WE Library to us.
The WE Library will follow the documentation acquisition principles, and consider the purchasing budget, library collection situation, and other relevant factors, so as to decide whether to purchase the books.
Recommend Purchase Procedure:
1. Understanding the documentation acquisition scope of the WE Library
1. The WE Library plans to acquire books in the following subjects with the preferences of high-quality books related to Expos, and exhibitions and activities held in the World Expo Museum.
1) Expo-related: Preferentially selecting collection catalogues, official reports, planning documents, albums, guide manuals, and forum papers, and publications released by organizers, and those related to Expo bidding, preparation, operation, and utilization after closure; actively acquiring Expo-themed journals issued by influential news press and publication institutes.
2) Publications of significant exhibitions and activities held in the World Expo Museum.
3) Expo bidding and host city–related: Selecting publications regarding the history, geography, culture, and economy of the bidding and host cities.
4) Books published by institutes and organizations which have a close relationship with Expos.
5) Important books written by influential celebrities who have greatly impacted the history of Expos.
6) Culture and tourism related: Selecting publications related to outstanding theories and practices of the museum operation, exposition, and design.
7) Other subjects: Properly acquiring publications regarding city development, cultural exchanges, science and technology innovations, international relationship, economy and trade, architectural design, artistic aesthetics, and intelligence collection.
2. The WE Library prefers books in Chinese, English, French, and other official languages of the bidding and host countries.
3. The WE Library should preferentially select books with certain academic profundity, and choose some interesting books as well.
2. Viewing the OPAC of the Library to gain an extensive understanding of the collection
3. Logging in to "My Library", using "Documentation Recommend Purchase", filling in the details of books (the title, author, ISBN, publisher/publishing year, and reasons for recommendation).
The WE Library extensively considers the recommendation within seven working days and sends the final decision of whether to buy these books to the reader via email. If a recommendation is accepted, the Library will contact a bookseller and purchase the books as soon as possible. Generally, it takes one month for a Chinese book and three months for an English book from placing an order to receiving, cataloging, and shelving a book at the library. Affected by the publishing time, distribution situation, purchasing channel, and more, some specific orders may require more time to be fulfilled. Thank you for your understanding.
